Hip Dysplasia and Total Hip Replacement
Hip Dysplasia before surgery.
Both hips have a total hip replacement.
A Total Hip Replacement (THR) was performed to treat hip dysplasia.
Two different types (collared and collarless) of cementless Total Hip Replacement implants are shown on the left. The head (ball) is in the center and the cup (socket) is shown on the right. The head fits on the neck on the implants on the left, and articulates inside the cup on the right.
Implants of a cemented prosthesis is shown. The 3 components, cup, head, and stem fit together after being implanted.
The implants for small dogs and cats have a similar geometry as those for large dogs. The implants must be much smaller.
